Went on a little trip to visit some family. Sadly, I didn't do a lot of drawing, even though I brought watercolors and sketching tools, along with multiple notebooks and a sketchbook. I only doodled on the plane ride back. Eh.
I skimmed a magazine for something to draw, and came across this odd creature on the hood of a truck.
My friend Shane just exposed me to Canadian music artist Grimes, aka Claire Boucher. She has such an interesting look to her, and I didn't begin to capture it, but the colors were fun to work with, nonetheless.
I requested from another artist-type a picture of a koi fish. He obliged. I followed it up with a second request, this time for a clown fish. He resisted. I then set out to make it my business to make a cool clown fish inspired drawlingk, which became a watercolor.
Now working on composition for the same zombie/bunny piece. (Still rough sketches.) Unrelated, in the past month, I had two different people tell me that I'm not a real artist. That's honestly a very discouraging thing for anyone to hear, especially when they're making an effort. It only makes me want to encourage others to embrace their creativity and nurture it. And by "others", I (spitefully) exclude the two aforementioned individuals. Shame on you.
