Art requests from Neopets...

I am on Gaia Online, which "is an English-language, anime-themed social networking and forums-based website." I've found it's a community that has a thriving character art marketplace of sorts, thus I've found a lot of inspiration there. (I tend to work on art most when I feel it will have an audience.)

Before Gaia Online, I was also on Neopets, where art was less of a focus and graphic design (buttons, websites, tables, etc.) were more in demand. More recently, I've revisited Neopets to find that users do have an interest in their characters' art. While Gaia Online users compensate artists for commissions, it would seem that Neopets artists do non-compensated requests that may or may not earn recognition of any kind. Additionally, while Gaia Online users tend to ultimately prefer the anime style of art, Neopets users tend to be more flexible about the art style, though consistently prefer characters that are usually some form of  anthropomorphic character (or "furry"). While both sites have official site-wide art contests, I think I do prefer the requests on Gaia Online over Neopets.
